CNC Laser Operator 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laser Operator will primarily be involved with the setup and operation of a CNC laser for metal fabrication.

Essential Functions Statements 

  • Ability to setup and operate CNC laser machine 
  • Knowledge and hands-on operation of CNC laser for metal fabrication including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, lenses, etc.
  • Implementation and utilization of LEAN manufacturing technique.
  • Setup of complex hydraulic presses and dies to produce specific Graepel parts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of metal fabrication process and concepts.
  • Training and teaching new employees with the specific know how of Graepel products and technologies.  
  • Provide routine maintenance and minor repairs to CNC laser machine. 
  • Work with process improvement teams, plan and implement process flow, cost reduction and facility improvements. 
  • Setup metal fabrication machinery and other production necessities to produce "0 defect" parts.
  • Supervise and execute the production quality and quality planning tasks (e.g.  Initial sample inspections reports, defect analysis).
  • Check accuracy of work using blueprints and precision measuring tools. 
  • Work a regular schedule determined by supervisory management 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

  • High School Degree or equivalent and/or related experience required.
  • Associates Degree from an accredited Quality Assurance program preferred.

Experience:

  • Ability to use Direct read measuring devices required.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing skills preferred 
  • Ability to coordinate 3 Dimensional Coordinate Measuring and 2 Dimensional CAD experience preferred. 
  • Previous experience in manufacturing engineering, fabrication management and/or operations of low and mid-sized volume metal fabrication preferred.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently.
  • Ability to train inexperienced co-workers.
     

Computer Skills:

  • Experience using MS Office Suite, 3D Modeling CAD software preferred
